As a former bus driver, Amarjeet Sohi knows first-hand how important it is for people to have safe, accessible, and reliable buses. A modern bus system cuts pollution and strengthens communities – helping people get to work on time, students to class on time, and making it easier for parents to see their kid’s soccer game. Today, as Minister of Infrastructure, he was proud to announce one of the largest bus purchase and rebuild projects for the City of Toronto. We are partnering with the Province of Ontario to purchase 1,043 new buses and revitalise 695 current buses with the Toronto Transit Commission. This investment will ensure that the TTC’s bus fleet remains in a state of good repair and is able to meet Toronto’s future ridership demands. This is a great day for commuters and families in Toronto who rely on public transit to get around the city.
